The Kages 8'x4'x4' Premium PVC Reptile Enclosure is one of the largest and most versatile reptile habitats available. Handcrafted in the USA from ½" rigid expanded PVC with premium tempered glass sliding doors, this enclosure is built for serious reptile keepers who refuse to compromise on quality, size, or customization. At almost 1,000 gallons of volume, it delivers the kind of enriching, naturalistic space your reptile deserves.
Kages Feature:
Sleek Modern Design — Clean matte aesthetics that complement any room while keeping your reptile calm and comfortable.
BioActive Ready — No plastic liners needed. Seal the seams with aquarium-safe silicone and your bioactive setup is good to go.
Nonporous Matte Finish — Eliminates reflections to reduce reptile stress, and wipes clean in seconds.
Easy Assembly — Screws and digital instructions included. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver (or a drill to speed things up) and about 20–50 minutes.
Tempered Glass Sliding Doors — Safer and more durable than float glass, with a deeper top channel for smooth, easy operation. Add door handles and a door lock for a fully secured enclosure.
Superior Heat & Humidity Retention — Rigid PVC outperforms glass tanks, giving you tighter environmental control with less energy use.
Made in the USA — Every Kages enclosure is handbuilt in the USA using reptile-safe materials, by reptile keepers with over 30 years of experience.
Fully Customizable — Choose your venting configuration, belly heat recess, and screen placement to build the enclosure your animal actually needs.
CUSTOMIZATION
Build Your Perfect Enclosure
Every 8'x4'x4' Kages enclosure is made to order with the options that matter to you:
Lighting: No lighting (solid PVC top), multiple sizes of square screens for heating elements, and multiple sizes of rectangular screens for UVB and LED fixtures
Venting: Back vents only, or add side vents
Belly Heat Recess: Add to left, right, or both sides, pair with our Ultratherm Heat Pad for a complete belly heat solution
We do not recommend ceramic heat emitters (CHEs) in PVC enclosures. Safer, more effective alternatives include:
Heat projector lamps (e.g., Arcadia Deep Heat Projector) — pair with the Solar Ceramic Heat Bracket for clean mounting
Halogen basking bulbs — a natural, broad-spectrum heat source
Radiant heat panels — ideal for ambient belly or ambient air heat
Under-tank heat mats — choose your belly heat recess and pair with our Ultratherm Heat Pad
Always use a quality thermostat and digital thermometer to monitor and regulate temperatures. Spyder Robotics thermostats are a trusted option in the hobby.
WHY KAGES?
Reptile keepers have been choosing Kages because the enclosures are large, well-built, and designed by people who actually keep reptiles. PVC outperforms glass in almost every measurable way for reptile husbandry — better heat retention, better humidity control, lighter weight, no shattering risk, and a matte finish that reduces animal stress. The 8'x4'x4' is as close to a "forever enclosure" as you can get for most large snake and lizard species.
I couldn’t be more happy with these enclosures! I just purchased (2) 8 ft enclosures, (1) 8x4x4 & (1) 8x4x3 and they have been absolutely amazing! This is my sweet boy Lucid, he is a red Argentine tegu. I have been struggling for what seems like FOREVER with his sheds, & I kid you not, as soon as I put my babies in their new Kages enclosures, within days, my baby shed all of that super stuck shed that we had been struggling so hard with! He’d even been to the vet multiple times, & we had tried sooo many different things with husbandry, diet, soaks, vitamins & supplements, etc. but it seemed as if the moment I put him in here with his proper lighting/ cage size, humidity & UVB that’s what he really needed!
Not to mention customer service since I initially started looking into getting my babies their upgraded enclosures. I shopped around local, as well as many different well known companies in the industry and what sold me with Kages was ultimately the customer service! Every question I had (trust me, there was ALOT lol) was answered almost immediately. I can’t recommend Kages enough, & I will be getting future Kages with them 😁😁
Best tank ever!! I will be eventually switching my 3 other snakes to Kages. My enclosure is not fully completed with enrichment yet!! I still wanted to provide a photo to show how professional and well done this enclosure looks. Although it’s still pretty empty (I have a bunch of enrichment items fixing to arrive) my False Water Cobra LOVES it and is thriving in it already! Excellent humidity and heat retention. My snake’s enclosure stays consistent with very little effort. Amazing quality!
Bought this enclosure for my new Tegu. It is enormous! He has so much space to hangout and roam. I'm still getting it completely setup so he has more enrichment, but he will be able to grow into this and never have to worry about space. Putting it together wasn't too bad. The instructions could be better ask the parts didn't all have stickers which the instructions stated should all be inside, but I was able to figure it out, so it's a very minor complaint. Once it is together it is very sturdy. Definitely would recommend buying the door handles, as I didn't and had to order them separately. Overall, extremely satisfied with my purchase.
The materials and customer service here are absolutely AMAZING. I had a user error and asked them about it and they quickly got back to me and the build took probably 1.5 hrs to complete from nothing to fully built. My tegu moved into this after his 6x3x3 enclosure and he has never looked happier and really happy to decorate his forever home.
Relatively well built, nice looking PVC enclosure. Setting it up and building it was easy, just a lot of screwing and large parts, so it helps to have a friend that can hold things up for you while you attach all of the pieces.
As for functionality, it is very good at holding heat and humidity. Lots of space inside for decorating and customizing!
I am currently housing a rhino Iguana pair in this enclosure indoors temporarily. They are loving it so far! Lots of floor space for them. Though, the height and sliding doors make it difficult to enter if you are not flexible. Came right on time too.
Would recommend, just be prepared to do some extra work.
8.9/10.

Thank you so much for sharing your review and pictures! I'm glad the Kage was easy to assemble... but you're smart to bring on a friend! The 8x4x4 is HUGE!
Appreciate your support of our small business!

8’x4’x4’ Tegu Enclosure
The actual enclosure is phenomenal. It supports a ton of weight, provides a huge amount of space, and the materials are top notch.
The good: communication with the owners is fantastic. From generic questions, to replacing a missing part, with no questions asked, the interaction was excellent. The build was fairly self explanatory, even for a person who can barely tell a drill from a hammer. Everything was labeled well. The only confusion in the build was the supports. I wasn’t 100% clear on where they went based on the instructions, but a quick reference to a picture of one of their enclosures and I figured it out.
The Okay: I really, really, really, really detest instructions being digital. But some people prefer it. Ultimately, I mark this as an “okay” because this is a preferential thing. I’d also recommend, if you’re going to use the internet to store the directions, might as well put an example video up. It potentially would clear up any confusion a dunderhead like me has with the construction. Assume we’re idiots, because I am, and you’ll never be led astray!
The Bad: my glass was cut unevenly. I have sizable gaps at the bottom right and top left of the sliding glass. I thought maybe I had messed up, but a level proved otherwise. I’m having to cut out weatherstripping to seal the gaps. Not an issue if you have a large or adult version of whatever you needed the cage for, but my guy is still a little one. More to the issue, feeder insects and clean up crew for bioactive enclosures can escape through these holes.
The Neutral: This is one of those projects that you 100% need a friend for. I attempted, and ended up with a sizable gap and stripped screw hole in the bottom back left corner. Entirely my fault. I sealed it with copious amounts of aquarium safe silicon. No matter how excited/eager you are to build it, resist it unless you have some method of stabilizing the structure as you’re building it. It isn’t until those support beams and glass go in that the structure truly solidifies.
Overall: Great product. Great customer service. Easy to put together, but requires a second set of hands. Will definitely be purchasing from them again, and for other projects.

Thank you SO much for your detailed review. The feedback on the assembly process was especially great. I'm going to start including paper copies from here on out!
Your note about the glass - I'd love to figure this out for you as you shouldn't have gaps or uneven edges. If possible, please email customer service and we'll work on getting you some new ones or a credit to your next order. Apologies on that element!
Again, so appreciate your review and for supporting our small business!

First off, customer service is amazing. After shelling out a ton of money to another company and getting nothing in return and loosing my money as well. I was hesitant to trust another company with my cash. I emailed Kages with some of my concerns and inquired about lead times. They got back to me within a couple hours. I went ahead and ordered a 4x4x8 and a 3x3x8. They showed up within 10 days! We were shocked! Panels and class were packaged tight with lots of foam, nothing was broke or scratched.
The enclosures are a breeze to build, instructions are easy to understand. They keep humidity and heat in like nothing Iv ever used before, had to turn the frequency of the misters way down. The enclosures themselves are super clean and make my office look so much better. I will 100% purchase enclosures from this company again. Can’t say one bad thing, just an outstanding company.

My boa loves it
Bought it for my 8' red tail boa. He loves it. He's a lot more active, and he eats better.
Tegu Enclosure
My tegu enclosure was so easy to put together and had no damage from shipping. The lead time is not as long as I was expecting and order updates were accurate. Highly recommend Kages for reptile enclosures - especially for high humidity requirements
Love It
I bought this enclosure for my Argus. It was pretty easy to set up, remarkably light for its size and quite sturdy. I think it took me about an hour to set up, but I was taking my time with it. I was able to assemble it by myself, though getting the pallet moved was a 2 or 3 person job due to it coming on an 8' pallet. This thing has tons of space and is quite customizable. I have mounted ramps on the inside walls for my critter and all it took was a drill and some screws. It also seems to bond well with gorilla glue, which I used to mount rope hammocks and some cork sheets so that she can climb the walls. I will certainly be getting another for my Flavirufus monitor when she gets bigger.

TIPS
Recommended Heating Options for Optimal Safety & Natural Comfort in PVC Reptile Enclosures
For the safety and well-being of your reptile in our custom PVC enclosures, we advise against using ceramic heat emitters. Instead, consider these safer and more natural alternatives for your PVC reptile cage:
Heat Projector Lamps (e.g., Arcadia Reptile Deep Heat Projector)
To ensure a stable and secure environment, always use a thermostat and thermometer to monitor and regulate temperatures within the enclosure. Spyder Robotics offers excellent and reliable thermostats for this purpose.
